7:30pm
Portugal vs. Colombia

8:15pm
Live Halftime Show by Selendis Sebastian Alexander Johnson Big Band

9:30pm
DJ set by Ryan Sawyer
With the summer about to begin, GPS looks to July and August as a time for resting, reading, listening, talking, brainstorming, and long-term planning for the year and years ahead.

Before doing any of that, we want to throw a Summer Party to celebrate the community that makes everything we do possible.

7:30pm:
Portugal plays Colombia at the World Cup. It‘s a not-to-miss game between two extraordinarily good teams. GPS has the projector, the screen, the good sound system, the food, and the drinks.
8:15pm:
A very special halftime show with a live set by The Selendis Sebastian Alexander Johnson Big Band. This ensemble of improvisors is always shifting within an expanding pool of about 45 members, and many of them are on hand tonight, including GPS’s very own AJ Medeiros.

9:30pm:
After the game, Ryan Sawyer plays a DJ set and everyone dances.

P.S.:
If you (or your children) have Panini stickers to trade, please bring them. If you don’t know what that is, it’s ok.

The Portugal team expected line-up is Diogo Costa, João Cancelo, Rúben Dias, Gonçalo Inácio, Nuno Mendes, Bruno Fernandes, Vitinha, Bernardo Silva, Rafael Leão, Pedro Neto, and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Colombia team expected line-up is Camilo Vargas, Johan Mojica, Jhon Lucumi, Davinson Sánchez, Daniel Muñoz, Jefferson Lerma, Gustavo Puerta, Luis Díaz, James Rodríguez, Jhon Arias, and Luis Suárez.
The Selendis Sebastian Alexander Johnson Big Band was started in 2023 to perform Cal Massey’s Black Liberation Movement Suite, and Fred Ho’s Struggle for a New World Suite. From there, Johnson continued to book big band shows performing excerpts from those suites, as well as works by Duke Ellington, Raphael Saadiq, DJ Sliink, Gían Pérez, and original compositions, connected together with long conductioned and non-conductioned improvisations. The personnel are always shifting within an expanding pool of about 45 people.

Ryan Sawyer is a musician (percussion), composer, academic, and visual artist. He has performed, recorded and toured with countless bands and musicians. Sawyer’s unique approach to improvisation and composition include free form shepherding of sound thru drums and voice. After years of improvisation and side man employment Sawyer has dedicated his focus and practice to healing thru sound and brings this mindset to every opportunity he has to make music. Presently, he is concentrating on a new piece for a small orchestra and maracas called Ryan Sawyer’s Shaker Ensemble with a release of a live record on Lobby Art Editions.
Due to the age and character of the building, the space is not optimized for ADA accessibility and is located up a single flight of 20 stairs with handrails. If you have questions about access, please contact us in advance of the event, and we will make every effort to accommodate you.
